How to Reach: Nearest airport is Nagpur (266 kms), nearest railhead is Jabalpur (169 kms). Kanha National Park is well-connected by road with important places of the state. Regual buses are available from Jabalpur to Kanha.
Where to Stay: Accommodation facilities are available in the hotels and resorts of the park. In addition to the hotels and resort. MPSTDC has log huts which are good to stay.
Ideal Time To Visit: The park remain closed from July to Mid-November. The ideal time to visit the park is between April to June and November to January.

Kanha National Park - Ride the Wild Side
Situated in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha National Park is the largest Wildlife Sanctuary in Asia. Kanha is original Kipling country, about which he wrote in his unforgettable classic Jungle Book. Due to depletion of the tiger population, the area was developed as an absolute sanctuary in 1952. Kanha National Park was created as in 1995 by a special law, since then the park has preserved a variety of animal species. One of the first Project Tiger reserves in India, the tiger population have doubled since the implementation of Project Tiger reserve in 1974. Being one of the finest administered National Parks in Asia, the park has saved many endangered species. The topography of this region include the famous horseshoe shape valley. The entire park is surrounded by the spurs of the Mekal. The Supran River flow through the plains and grasslands of the park. Fauna of the Park
Kanha National Park is rich in wildlife population. One can spot tigers and other wildlife easily. Famous as a tiger reserve, the park houses 22 species of mammals and some 200 bird species. The wildlife of the park include Tiger, Leopard, Indian Hare, Indian Wild Dog, Common Langur, Indian Fox, Sloth bear, Chital of Spotless Deer, Barasingha or Swamp Deer Jackal, Stripped Palm Squirrel, Wild Pig, Sambar, Black Buck, Striped Hyena, Jungle Cat, Mouse Deer, Chausingha or four horned antelope, Nilgai, Ratel and Porcupine etc. The park is home to avian species like the Racquet Tailed Drongo, Crimson Breasted Barbet, Crested Hawk Eagle and Golden Oriole.

Flora of the Park
The varied terrain of the park mainly comprises of the rolling grasslands, bamboo and sal forests and meandering stream. The interesting topography Kanha is suitable for several floral species.
